How to Better use Convention & Visitors Bureaus / Convention Services

Convention and Visitors Bureaus have always been an important part of our chapter.  Do you really know what they have to offer for your meeting needs? This session will focus on convention and visitors bureaus, convention services, and how they are valuable for hotels and planners.

Core Competency: Facilities & Services

At the conclusion of this program attendees will have a greater understanding of the following:

  • How to use the local convention and visitors bureau and convention services to assist in conference/meeting planning.
  • Understanding services provided by the bureau.
  • Make contacts with local agencies; coordinate local events and activities into a meeting/conference.

Mr Jack Berry

President and CEO,  Richmond Regional Tourism

Jack started his CVB career in 1979 when Norfolk's SCOPE hired him as the Promotion and Sales Manager of the multi-purpose facility. He moved to Richmond, Virginia in 1988 to become Director of Marketing & Sales for the Richmond Centre for Conventions & Exhibitions. The City promoted him to General Manager in 1990. In December 1992 he was named President & CEO of the Richmond Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau – today known as Richmond Region Tourism.
