Education Topic: Travel and Safety

This presentation will cover safety tips for members to use while traveling.

The speaker will focus on travel by air and train as well as travel safety in hotels.

When traveling whether on business or personal, day to day or while on vacation these tips can aid in maintaining the your personal safety along with the safety of others.

David’s pointers will be helpful to both the seasoned road warrior and the occasional traveler.

David Summers is a career Virginia State Parks employee with 20 years’ experience as a Department of Criminal Justice Service certified Defensive Tactics Instructor with additional certifications as Firearms and General Instructor.  Working his way up the ranks from Chief Ranger at York River State Park in Williamsburg to helping develop Kiptopeke State Park on the Eastern Shore, Dave was named as the Chief of Law Enforcement for Virginia State Parks overseeing the training and supervision of 110 law enforcement officers in 2003.  He led the effort to attain state accreditation status for state parks which was attained in 2010.

After the session, attendees will be able to:

• Better prepare to travel by air.
• Be educated on safety when staying in hotels.

• Be aware of safety tips for travel by train.
